Barcelona have reportedly identified Villarreal defender Pau Torres as a potential transfer target during the summer transfer window and they are ready to rival Chelsea for his services.
The 23-year-old has been in stunning form for the Yellow Submarine during the 2019-20 season, founding back of the net twice and provided two assists in 36 games in all competitions.
Torres, who made his Spain debut last November, is believed to have a €50m (£45.6m) release clause in his current contract, which set to expire in the summer of 2023.
Man City and Chelsea have both previously been rumoured with the centre-back, however, according to RAC1, Barca are also weighing up a summer approach.
Torres played a vital role in Villarreal claiming a fifth-placed finish in the Spanish top-tier, however, could depart from Estadio de la Ceramica ahead of next campaign in search of pastures new.
The Catalan giants, who conceded this campaign’s La Liga title to Real Madrid, could prioritise a switch for a new defender in the upcoming market due to Samuel Umtiti’s injury problems.
Meanwhile, Chelse also considering a move for another La Liga star Ferran Torres.
Both Spanish player could help Frank Lampard’s side to compete for Premier League trophy next campaign.
