Chelsea ready to make surprise summer move for Burnley stopper

Chelsea are reportedly ready to make contact with Burnley about the availability of  England international keeper Nick Pope.

The English keeper has just enjoyed the best season of his career, keeping 15 clean sheets in the English top-tier and narrowly missing out on the Golden Glove award.

Despite having three years left on his current deal, the 28-year-old stopper is naturally receiving interest from top teams in the English top-tier.

According to Sky Sports News, Pope features alongside Andre Onana and Jan Oblak on the Blues shortlist of potential replacements for Spanish stopper, Kepa Arrizabalaga who is destined to leave Stamford Bridge if the reports are true.

Frank Lampard plans to sell former Athletic Bilbao stopper ahead of the next season as he has used Willy Caballero on the final day of the season instead of Spaniard.

The Blues are pushing to find a buyer for the 25-year-old stopper, who has failed to impress since his arrival at Frank Lampard’s side back in 2018.

Club officials are allegedly looking to recoup as much as £50m, funds which they would then use on one of their preferred alternatives.

Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana has been also on the shortlist of Frank Lampard, while the Blues also consider player plus cash deal for Atletico Madrid star Jan Oblak.
