Chelsea have reportedly made an important breakthrough in their talks with Brazilian winger Willian.
The 31-year-old is currently due to depart from the club at the end of this month when his existing contract comes to an end, having failed to agree on terms over a three-year deal extension.
Willian remains keen to stay at Stamford Bridge, however, has been holding out for a three-year contract, whereas the Blues have only been willing to offer him two.
However, Sky Sports News reports that they have now been able to make progress in talks and that the West London club are now confident of keeping the Brazilian forward at the club.
Willian had been linked with moves to the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur after revealing his preference to stay in London, while Barcelona, Manchester United and Inter Miami have also reportedly asked to be kept up to date with any developments.
The Brazilian attacker has managed to found back of the net 11 times and created nine more in 47 games across all competitions this campaign.
Chelsea direct Premier League rivals Arsenal are believed to be in the market for attacking reinforcements and Willian has been on the shortlist of Mikel Arteta ahead of the 2020/21 season.
