French team turned down Chelsea approach for 24-year-old forward

According to Afriquesports, Metz snubbed a £16.5 million January bid from Chelsea for the highly-rated target Habib Diallo.

The Metz forward has been in excellent form this campaign. He has scored 12 goals and picked up three assists in 24 Ligue 1 starts.

A report from the Express stated both Newcastle and Leicester were keen on the star ahead of the January transfer window but now it appears another PL club were pushing for his signature.

Afriquesports states Chelsea bid for the player. Metz, however, rejected the Blues’ advances as they were ready to allow the player to leave only in the summer.

The same report quotes Newcastle and Sevilla as others keen on the Senegal international.

The 24-year-old has helped Metz to three wins in their past six matches to move them three points clear of the relegation area, posting two goals and two assists.

The Blues may have looked at him as the club wish to add more firepower to their squad. The Blues have relied on youngster Tammy Abraham, but he has struggled with the fitness of late.

Leicester and Newcastle, meanwhile, have scoured the French market before and managed to find some productive buys.

The Foxes have added Youri Tielemans, Fousseni Diabate and Rachid Ghezzal in recent seasons while Newcastle purchased Allan Saint-Maximin and Emil Krafth from France last summer.

Meantime, Serie A side Atalanta BC reportedly plan to secure the permanent signing of Chelsea star Mario Pasalic in the summer transfer window.
