Arsenal have reportedly emerged as the new favourites to complete a deal for Atletico Madrid forward Thomas Lemar, according to the reports from Spain.
Since the beginning of the January transfer window, Thomas Lemar has been rumoured with a number of Premier League club, including the Chelsea, the Gunners, Wolves and the Spurs.
Despite the France international allegedly being against a mid-season exit, Marca reports that Arsenal are still keeping tabs on the situation.
The report claims that Mikel Arteta’s team have moved ahead of their English rivals in a bid to secure the services of Thomas Lemar, either on a temporary or permanent basis.
Much could depend on a change of heart from former AS Monaco winger, who is yet to score or provide an assist in 21 outings this campaign.
Chelsea are looking forward to filling the gap that has been left after the exit of Eden Hazard and Frank Lampard sees Lemar as a perfect peace to strengthen the Blues offensive potential, however, it seems that their arch-rivals, Arsenal have an edge in the race.
Lemar has been in terrible form for Diego Simeone’s side as he has failed to provide an assist or score a goal in 15 La Liga games.
