Liverpool and Chelsea go head-to-head to sign 23-year-old German forward

Liverpool and Chelsea are reportedly set to go head-to-head for Bundesliga outfits RB Leipzig attacker Timo Werner.

The 23-year-old German international forward has been in stunning form at the team during the 2019-20 season, founding back of the net 25 times and providing 10 assists in 26 games in all competitions.

The West London club are believed to have identified the Germany international forward as the ideal signing in the final third of the field, however, according to The Mirror, the Merseyside Reds are also determined to secure his services.

The report suggested that while Frank Lampard keen on to complete a deal during the winter transfer window, the Merseyside Reds would prefer to wait until the end of the current campaign.

Werner, who has also previously been rumoured with Man United, has scored 20 goals in 18 games in the Germany top-tier appearances during the 2019-20 season.

In total, the striker has found the back of the net on 86 times in 140 appearances for his current team since arriving from Stuttgart back in the summer of 2016 and since then has become a vital part of the team.

Werner has been in stunning for the last two seasons for Leipzig and could be a perfect addition to both Liverpool and Chelsea.
