Chelsea set to agree new deal for 20-year-old English defender

It is being reported today that Chelsa full-back Reece James is on the verge to getting himself a new long term deal, according to the Daily Star reports.

The 20-year-old defender has come into the Blues squad this campaign and has been quick to nail down a regular spot in the Starting XI of Frank Lampard side due to high competition from captain Cesar Azpilicueta.

The England under-21 international continuing to impress as he makes step-up to the West London club’s first team after a year on loan with Wigan Athletic.

Frank Lampard has shown his trust in some of the Blues young players who have come up through the youth system from their ever-impressive Academy, and the 20-year-old defender has certainly been one of the shining stars.

His current contract runs out in 2022, however, the report claims that he will be signing an extended and improved deal to commit his future even further to the team he has been at since the age of 7.

Meanwhile, another Chelsea defender Emerson Palmieri set to sign a new contract with the club as Serie A defending champions, Juventus considering move for his signature and in order to avoid his transfer to Allianz Stadium.
