Chelsea midfield star Mason Mount is more deserving of winning the Golden Boy award than Arsenal’s wonderkid Matteo Guendouzi, this according to pundit John Hartson.
Mount has enjoyed a good start of the 2019/20 campaign under Frank Lampard at Stamford Bridge, founding back of the net four times from eight Premier League appearences thus far.
That has seen England international star included in the shortlist for UEFA’s Golden Boy award, which goes to the most promising player in football.
Guendouzi and Mason Mount have both made the cut, along with the likes of Jadon Sancho, Matthijs de Ligt, Moise Keane and Man City’s Foden.
Yet Hartson thinks Mount is more deserving of claiming the award then Unai Emery’s favourite player Guendouzi.
He told Footballfancast: “I think Mason Mount has done more.
“I like Guendouzi, I think he’s looked a lot more focused this season and he’s rose to the occasion.
“I don’t want to be too critical, and good luck to him, but if you look at the way Mount has played over the last few games, the way he has started at Chelsea and how Frank Lampard is pushing him on and is nurturing him, he’s done more.”
Both have been in fine form for the London giants and they deserve to be in the shortlist of Golden Boy award and likely to have a bright future respectively for Arsenal and Chelsea.
