Mason Mount has revealed that Frank Lampard has been helping him to improve his finishing by putting on additional training sessions at Chelsea.
The 20-year-old has made a strong start to the season, scoring two goals in four Premier League matches against Leicester City and Norwich City.
All six of Chelsea’s league goals this season have been scored by homegrown academy graduates with Tammy Abraham top-scoring with four demonstrating Lampard’s faith in his young stars.
Clearly Lampard’s extra work with Mount is reaping the rewards and the midfielder stated that he there is nobody better to learn the art of finishing from than his current manager.
Speaking ahead of England’s game against Bulgaria, Mount said: ‘After training, we would do some finishing sometimes. Obviously talking to him every day, especially after games, [he] tells me what I can do better, where I can make the runs and where I can get into the box.
‘I’m always speaking to him and trying to learn things every day. Mostly after training, we do finishing and there’s no better person to learn from than him!’
Although Mount has only just broken into Chelsea’s first-team, he has shown his goalscoring potential elsewhere, scoring regularly for Vitesse Arnhem and Derby County.
Mount earned a place in the Eredivisie Team of the Year in 2017-18 after scoring 14 goals in 39 games for Vitesse while he netted 11 times in 44 matches for Derby under Lampard.
