Champions League draw has been held and Chelsea fans are likely to be pleased with their Group members.
Liverpool have been drawn against Napoli and Chelsea take on last season’s dark horses Ajax in the Champions League group stage this year.
Europe’s elite clubs eagerly awaited their fate at Thursday’s draw in Monaco and Premier League giants Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester City have some mouthwatering ties to look forward to in the coming months.
Jurgen Klopp’s side, who were crowned European champions for a sixth time in June, join Napoli, Salzburg and Genk in Group E. Last season’s runners-up Spurs, meanwhile, will take on Bayern Munich in Group B, along with Olympiacos and Red Star Belgrade.
Premier League champions City were grouped with Shakhtar Donetsk, Dinamo Zagreb and Atalanta. Chelsea were drawn against 2019 semi-finalists Ajax, as well as Valencia and Lille.
Liverpool, Chelsea and City were among the top seeds along with heavyweights Barcelona, Juventus, Bayern Munich, Zenit St Petersburg and Paris Saint-Germain. Despite finishing as runners-up last season, Spurs were in pot two along with Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid.
