Tiemoue Bakayoko could be set for another loan move away from Chelsea as talks with his former club Monaco have progressed, according to reports in France.
The 25-year-old returned to Stamford Bridge following a successful season-long stint with AC Milan but he has failed to make any of Frank Lampard’s matchday squads this season.
With the French international midfielder well down the pecking order at Chelsea, the club are open to offloading him before the European transfer window shuts next week.
Initially, Chelsea blocked a loan move from Monaco for Bakayoko as they wanted him to join a club playing European football in the hope it would raise his resale value.
Bakayoko still has three years remaining on his Chelsea contract and the club are hoping to recoup the majority of the £40m they spent to sign him from Monaco in 2017.
However, a lack of interest elsewhere has meant that Chelsea have softened their position in regards to allowing him to re-join Monaco who are without a win this season.
Monaco’s first-choice midfield target is reportedly AC Milan star Franck Kessie and although the Serie A giants are happy for him to move on, his salary demands could prove prohibitive.
Bakayoko joined Chelsea after starring for Monaco during their improbable Ligue 1 title win and eye-catching run to the Champions League semi-final in the 2016-17 season.
Despite featuring regularly under Antonio Conte, Bakayoko struggled to establish himself at Chelsea and he doesn’t appear to feature in Lampard’s plans moving forward.
