Callum Hudson-Odoi is set to sign a new five-year contract with Chelsea worth over £100,000 a week, according to reports.
The 18-year-old has less than a year remaining on his current deal and wanted to leave Stamford Bridge in the January transfer window following interest from Bayern Munich.
The German champions have had multiple bids rejected for the winger, including an offer of £35 million in January. But according to the Daily Mail, Hudson-Odoi is now in ‘advanced talks’ with Chelsea and is ready to commit to a new long-term deal.
The report claims that the return of Frank Lampard as the club’s new manager has helped convince Hudson-Odoi to remain at Stamford Bridge.
Hudson-Odoi was give more chances as the campaign progressed under Maurizio Sarri but his season was cut short after he ruptured his Achilles tendon at the end of April.
The winger required surgery but is now back in training, although he did not travel with the squad for their pre-season tour.
‘He’s a player who’s come through the academy, he’s a player who can be a big player for Chelsea and England. We as a club as a whole want him to stay, for sure,’ Lampard said earlier this week.
‘I think he knows he has a manager here who wants to work with him to improve, and that takes hard work.
‘There a few younger players now, some have signed, some I think will sign in the next month or in the early part of the season, and it’s important we move forward on that.’ Added the legendary Englishman.
