Chelsea hand transfer blow in race for 23-year-old top-class Spain international

According to the reports, Chelsea have been dealt a massive blow in race for Real Madrid star Marco Asensio.

Los Blancos head-coach Zinedine Zidane has seemingly decided that Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United long-term target Marco Asensio will spend next season at Santiago Bernabeu.

Spanish winger was once touted as one of the top prospects in world football, however, the midfielder has endured a below-par season for the Los Blancos.

Premier League trio are allegedly monitoring any developments regarding the future of 23-year-old winger. However, Zidane is keen on to keep him at Santiago Bernabeu for the rest of the season.

The manager is quoted by Marca as saying: “I have spoken to him and told him that he will be fundamental to the team, and I want him here with us.”

Spanish winger still has over four years left on his current deal with the Los Blancos.

Chelsea are reportedly in the market for offensive reinforcements ahead of the new season with Eden Hazard is likely to make the switch to Real Madrid with Zidane is desperate to lure his long-term target at Santiago Bernabeu this summer.

And Marco Asensio would be an ideal replacement for Belgian superstar if the Madrid club agrees on a swap deal.
